Easy Read:
To help meet the diverse literacy needs of people living in South Australia, HCSCC has developed two Easy Read versions of the HCSCC Charter - Know Your Rights brochure. One of the booklets is for general use, while the other has been designed to be culturally sensitive towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people.
In general, easy read documents:
- present information in a way that is easy to understand
- use simple language, contain images to support the text, use larger font sizes and include plenty of white space
- are most commonly used with people who have a disability
- are becoming more widely used with people who have low literacy, are elderly or where English is a second language.

A general HCSCC Charter presentation is available to introduce the HCSCC Charter. The presentation includes an overview about the HCSCC Charter, the consultation process and how the HCSCC Charter will be used.
Additional slides have been developed to help you tailor your presentation to meet the specific needs of your members, colleagues or group. A number of NEW alignment slides have been added which may help with your presentation/s or to start a group discussion about the HCSCC Charter and what it might mean in practice - for you as a service user, a carer, an advocate or as a service provider. A blank template slide has also been added, making it quick and easy for you to develop your own alignment slides!
If you have developed your own alignment slide/s, please email info@hcscc.sa.gov.au and let us know. If you would like us to share your alignment slide/s with others by making it available on our website, please send us an email.
